Shiloh Battlefield - about the middle of the state. You take a self-guided tour in your car and visit many sites that were the civil war battle of Shiloh. It take several hours to go around and is very interesting. Plus they have a great museum |

The Natchez Trace Parkway is a small highway that starts about 50 miles east of Nashville and runs for about 400 miles S.W. through some of the prettiest area in Tennesee, a corner of Alabama, Mississippi, and finally ends near the gulf in Louisana. It generally follows an old route used in the 1800's as a route north from the gulf and was heavily used during the civil war. The Natchez Trace 1000 Trails campground is about 100 miles from Nashville and is right on the "Trace" itself... |
